Join HCTM as we welcome back Michael Serra to present a Geometry workshop. Cost for current members is just $5. Continental breakfast, take home activities, handouts, and door prizes included. Seating is limited to 30 so sign up today.
We'll begin with some of the research of Michael deVilliers and review
the van Hiele Levels of geometric reasoning. Participants will
experience a number of introductory strategies to teaching proof. We
will explore different formats for proof and when they are appropriate. For the second portion of the workshop, participants will choose an investigation
from a list, perform the investigation and then either prove it or find
a counterexample. During the final portion of the workshop we will look
at a variety of puzzles that help develop reasoning skills. The
mathematics explored includes geometry and algebra.
